What is your rate?
Online tutoring: The price per hour for private tutoring is CAD $50 - $60, depending on grade level and number of sessions. Small group tutoring (2 - 3 students per class) is also available at a lower price point of around CAD$30 - $38 per hour.
In-person tutoring: In-person tutoring is only available in Vancouver and Richmond. The price for in-person tutoring starts at $100++ per session, depending on travel time and lesson length. During regular school sessions, I conduct only online lessons and my availability for in-person tutoring is extremely limited.

Do you offer plans or packages ?
I don’t offer packages or plans. All sessions are pay as you go. Unlike other tutoring companies, there's no obligation to schedule additional sessions to exhaust the package if your child does not find the tutoring beneficial.

What textbooks and resources do you use?
I have physical and electronic copies of most Math textbooks in Greater Vancouver. Throughout my nearly 10 years of tutoring experience, I have amassed a vast library of resources, including study guides, reference sheets, quizzes, tests, and practice exams.

What is your cancellation policy?
I would appreciate being notified of cancellation several days in advance so that I can adjust my schedule accordingly. Lessons cancelled within 24 hours will be charged a full rate.

How do I pay you?
After you receive an invoice from me, please send the payment for the tutoring via e-transfer.

Is tutoring tax-deductible?
Please consult your tax advisor. I am able to provide a tax receipt at the end of the year upon request.

How does online tutoring work?
My online sessions are conducted via Zoom. I use my Wacom pen to annotate PDF materials and save a copy of the annotated file. After every session, I email notes, materials, and homework. Many of my students have an iPad which allows them to annotate online. Certain students prefer to take notes using the conventional method of pen and paper and then take photos of their completed work and send them to me for checking.

I recommend all students adopt a digital pen and/or an iPad for smooth writing on the virtual whiteboard. Personally, I use the Wacom Intuos pen due to its cost and quality.

How does small group tutoring work?
All students in group tutoring learn the same materials. In a small group setting, more perspectives are brought to each lesson, creating a richer learning experience. Frequently, students anticipate the opportunity to learn alongside their peers!

How many sessions a week do you recommend?
Depending on your child’s needs and goals, tutoring can range from once to 5 times a week. Most sessions are 1-hour long. Some Grade 11 – 12 students prefer 1.5-hour sessions to cover more materials in each class.

How soon can my child experience the results?
Every child is unique. Some children experience results in as little as one session, while others need blocks of sessions to experience improvement. I continuously provide progress updates to students and parents and adjust my tutoring style as required.
I can increase the likelihood of the student's success, but I cannot guarantee it. The success of a student depends on numerous factors, including their motivation, interest in the subject, openness to feedback, dedication to putting in effort, and many other aspects.

Why choose tutoring with Jenny?
I have nearly a decade of experience tutoring full-time (By full-time, I mean I make a living tutoring. I don't tutor 40 hours/week). I have a wealth of knowledge to offer and know how to deliver abstract concepts concisely and intuitively. I know which parts of the course are likely to cause the most problems and how to proactively prevent them. If a student struggles to grasp a concept, I can promptly adapt and present it differently. I am also able to identify knowledge gaps and create a plan to bridge the gaps. My past students have greatly benefited from my tutoring, as shown in the testimonials here.

Is tutoring all that you do?
I have been a full-time, professional Math tutor for almost a decade. I am immensely passionate about teaching and learning. I continuously reflect and reevaluate my practice, update myself with the latest curriculum changes, learn about teaching pedagogies, research teaching resources, and develop my own worksheets and resources.
